According to the Center for Disease Control

6 million children ages 3 to 17 have been diagnosed with ADHD in the United States between 2016 and 2019.

It is estimated that 3 in 10 children in the United States have ADHD.

ADHD has to do with how the mind works.

ADHD has nothing to do with intelligence; people with low, average, and high intelligence are equally at risk for having ADHD.

ADHD is a disease of the mind, not a character flaw.

While we do not know what causes ADHD, genetics and environment each may have something to do with the development of ADHD.  Anyone diagnosed with ADHD can live a successful, fulfilling life.

ADHD can be treated.

Diagnosis is a simple process and can mean the difference between excelling in school, work, and in social situations and feeling frustrated, overwhelmed, and ashamed.

How Does ADHD

Assessment work?

ADHD Assessment takes place over three visits.

The first visit is the Intake, also called the Diagnostic Assessment.  This takes about one hour and involves me asking the patient, and their parents/guardians if the patient is 17 or younger, many questions.

At this appointment, we discuss background, mental health symptoms, mental and physical health history, school/work life, social life, childhood, what things they are good at, what things they are not good at, and how they like to spend their time.

At the second visit, the patient completes a series of assessment activities also known as a neuropsychological testing battery.

These activities are designed to determine different aspects of how someone’s mind works in different ways.

Feedback and results are presented at the the third appointment.

Together, we go over the results of the testing battery and explain what the assessment tells us. At that appointment, I will give the patient and/or their parents or guardians a written report with my finds, data from the assessment, and recommendations for next steps based on the specific results testing.

It is estimated that

What Clients Say

Doctor

Client Consult – April 27, 2018

I met Dr. Nathan regarding a client consult. It can be rare but his professionalism, balanced manner of presenting information, and knowledge of the Best Care standards for Clinical work with great empathy was impressive. This is a personable, calm but very competent and wise psychologist. I would send teens, or adults to him with ease that they are in great hands. He is also very trauma experienced, which is exceptional. He has an open mind, empathic heart, he is ethical, responsible and kind.

Dr. Nathan helped my husband and I better understand our daughter who suffered from ADHD. He listens and taught us useful strategies to help us parent and avoid fights at home. I would recommend him to other parents of children who experience difficulties with critical thinking skills.

Dr. Nathan was very helpful for my family. Our son had difficulties with acting out at home and at school and Dr. Nathan helped us learn ways to parent to deal with these behaviors in a way that made us closer in general. Highly recommend.
